Five Education are recruiting motivated candidates who are looking to work as Learning Mentors in various education settings in Bristol. The young people you will be supporting are at risk of exclusion.

If you have knowledge of attachment needs and a good understanding of how to support children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, you will be a fantastic asset to the schools.

Responsibilities and duties:

  • Supporting 1:1 in class
  • Help facilitate the children's communication
  • Help the pupils to access the curriculum and possibly tailor the lesson of the activity to their level of ability
  • Encourage the child's independence and interaction with peers
  • Be a support to the pupils when they are struggling, and help them to calm down and remain focused
  • Build a strong relationship with the pupils and teaching staff to ensure that the pupils are achieving their potential

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong sense of empathy and resilience
  • 2 years' worth of references, needs to be recent and this could be paid or volunteer work
  • Able to work between 08.(phone number removed) days a week
