Perhaps you already have experience working in a mainstream school environment and are looking to gain more experience in a new role within a SEN setting? Then this could be the perfect and most ideal opportunity for you.

Supply Desk are currently seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant that will be working with children and young people with a range of Special Educational Needs and Learning Disabilities, matching you with a school and role that suits your personality and skill set.

The role/ Responsibilities:

  • You will need to be nurturing, patient and committed to making learning accessible to children that have complex learning difficulties.
  • Communicate with parents and teachers and provide behavioral and emotional support
  • To plan, prepare and deliver to students with challenging behavior
  • Supporting SEN pupils on a 1:1, small group and classroom basis and being able to vary your teaching style and techniques to best suit each pupil and their needs
  • To implement individual programmes. This may involve writing or contributing to individual education plans
  • Be creative, innovative and adding value to the curriculum and making the lessons as engaging and as fun as possible
  • Able demonstrate a strong understanding of confidentiality and the handling of sensitive information and show a commitment to safeguarding
  • Follow child protection, health, safety, security, confidentiality and data protection policies and procedures, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person. Assist with pupil supervision, including before and after school and in break times.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Good knowledge of SEN and passion to develop pupils within a school setting
  • NVQ in Childcare and education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (Unqualified Teaching Assistants are also welcome to apply)
  • Experience of supporting social and emotional development and dealing with the situation at hand in the best way possible
  • Passionate and enthusiastic about teaching and helping pupils
  • Able to commute to High Wycombe
  • Current valid DBS or the willingness to obtain one
