Role Summary


As a Platform Engineer, you will play a crucial role in our Platform Engineering team, focusing on Azure DevOps, pipeline management, and infrastructure as code. You will be responsible for deploying and managing our microservices platform, utilising Azure Container Apps, Cosmos DB, and various Azure services. You will work closely with our development teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and secure deployments.

Key Responsibilities

Azure DevOps Management:

  • Set up, manage, and maintain Azure DevOps projects, GitHub repositories, and pipelines.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines using YAML configurations.
  • Implement and manage automated deployment processes for various environments.

Pipeline & Scripting

  • Develop, test, and maintain Bicep scripts for infrastructure as code (IaC).
  • Write and manage YAML pipelines for CI/CD processes.
  • Ensure pipelines are optimised for speed, reliability, and scalability.

Azure Architecture

  • Assist in designing and implementing Azure architecture for microservices platforms.
  • Deploy and manage Azure Container Apps for hosting microservices.
  • Integrate and manage Azure Cosmos DB as a part of our high availability architecture.

Building Images & Deployment

  • Build and manage Docker images for microservices. Automate the deployment of containerised applications.
  • Ensure that the containerised applications are deployed consistently across multiple environments.

Proactive Monitoring And Performance Tuning

  • Implement monitoring solutions to track performance, availability, and reliability of applications and infrastructure.
  • Analyse performance metrics and logs to identify and resolve issues. Conduct performance tuning to optimise system efficiency.

Collaboration & Support

  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure smooth integration and deployment of code. Provide support for production deployments and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement practices within the DevOps team.

About You

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps, including project setup, repository management, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in writing YAML scripts for pipeline configurations and experience with Bicep scripts for infrastructure as code (IaC) and familiarity with Azure services, especially Azure Container Apps and Cosmos DB.
  • Basic understanding of Docker and containerisation technologies.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and deployment strategies. Experience with other Azure services such as Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
  • Understanding of version control systems, preferably Git. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
