Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic CDM Principal Designer to join our team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health and safety of all our construction projects, working closely with our design and construction teams to embed safety and regulatory compliance from inception through to completion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the Principal Designer under the CDM Regulations 2015, managing health and safety risks in the design phase.
  • Collaborate with clients, designers, and contractors to ensure all health and safety considerations are integrated into the project design.
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide guidance on mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive health and safety documentation, including pre-construction information and health and safety files.
  • Facilitate communication and coordination between project stakeholders to ensure compliance with CDM regulations.
  • Lead design reviews and hazard workshops to identify and address potential risks.
  • Monitor and audit project sites to ensure adherence to health and safety standards.
  • Provide training and support to project teams on CDM-related matters.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Professional membership with APS, IOSH, or similar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Principal Designer role within the construction industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Proven track record of managing health and safety in a variety of project types, including commercial, housing, high-rise, heritage, and government buildings.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and guide project teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
