What’s in It for You?

We understand that stepping into the role of an Ofsted Registered Manager can be daunting, especially with the weight of responsibility that comes with it. That’s why we’re offering a unique opportunity to join us in managing our first semi-independent setting. You'll be at the forefront of commissioning our inaugural home, with the support of a forward-thinking team and the backing of a well-resourced organization.

But that’s just the beginning. The site for our second home, located in Liverpool, is already secured, and once you’ve settled in and established the foundations in Bradford, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee this next launch. With more locations likely to emerge across the North West, this role offers not just a job, but a chance to grow with us, expand your influence, and make a lasting impact on the lives of young people.

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Service Manager to lead our new semi-independent provision for young people aged 16+. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of a small residential home, ensuring high standards of care and compliance with Ofsted regulations. Our provision is specifically designed for young people with high needs who are preparing for independent living at age 18. The successful candidate will be instrumental in creating a supportive, nurturing environment that empowers young people to develop the skills they need to transition to independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership and Management: Lead a team of care staff, ensuring they are motivated, well-trained, and providing high-quality support to the young people in the home.

• Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the provision meets all Ofsted standards and regulations, including preparing for inspections and maintaining comprehensive records.

• Safeguarding: Implement and oversee robust safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people in the home.

• Personalized Care Plans: Develop and regularly review individual care plans tailored to the needs and goals of each young person, promoting their development towards independence.

• Crisis Management: Effectively manage any crises or incidents that arise, utilizing de-escalation techniques and providing leadership during challenging situations.

• Community Engagement: Foster links with local community services, education providers, and employment opportunities to support the young people’s transition to independence.

• Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the financial management of the provision, including budgeting, resource allocation, and maintaining cost-effective operations.

• Continuous Improvement: Lead efforts to continuously improve the quality of care and service delivery, staying up-to-date with best practices and regulatory changes.

Qualifications:

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People’s Services) or equivalent.

• Desirable: A relevant degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, or a related field.

• Ofsted Compliance Training and experience in managing Ofsted-registered services.

• Safeguarding and Child Protection Certification, with up-to-date knowledge of current legislation and best practices.

• First Aid and Mental Health First Aid training (preferred).

Experience:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential childcare, with a focus on young people aged 16+.

• Proven experience in supporting high-needs young people, including those with mental health challenges, behavioural issues, or those transitioning out of care.

• Leadership and management experience within a residential setting, including managing teams, overseeing care plans, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

• Experience in handling Ofsted inspections, with a solid understanding of the requirements and expectations.

• Crisis management and conflict resolution experience, with a track record of effectively managing challenging situations.

Personal Attributes:

• Empathy and Understanding: A deep commitment to supporting young people’s growth and development, with a compassionate approach to their individual needs.

• Strong Leadership Skills: The ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team, fostering a positive and supportive environment.

• Excellent Communication Skills: The ability to communicate effectively with young people, staff, families, and external agencies.

• Organizational and Administrative Skills: Strong organizational abilities, with a focus on maintaining compliance and detailed records.

• Resilience and Adaptability: The ability to handle stress, adapt to changing circumstances, and remain focused during challenging situations.

Additional Requirements:

• Enhanced DBS Check: The candidate must pass an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

• Driver's License: A full, clean driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory.
