My client is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Structural Engineer to join a dynamic team, focusing on projects within the nuclear sector. You will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality, innovative design solutions for both new-build and historic structures, ensuring they meet the most stringent safety, regulatory, and performance standards. A key component of this role will involve seismic design expertise, ensuring all structures are fully resilient to seismic activity.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to work on high-profile projects that shape the future of civil engineering in the nuclear industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and analysis of complex civil and structural projects, primarily within the nuclear sector.
  • Develop and deliver design solutions for new and historic structures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Provide seismic design expertise, ensuring that structures are engineered to withstand seismic forces in line with international and local standards.
  • Act as the technical authority for all civil and structural engineering matters, offering guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
  • Collaborate with project managers, clients, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of engineering designs.
  • Conduct structural assessments, and prepare reports and technical documentation.
  • Ensure all projects meet health, safety, and environmental standards, particularly within highly regulated nuclear environments.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent is preferred.
  • Extensive experience in the nuclear sector, with proven expertise in delivering structural designs for nuclear facilities.
  • Demonstrable experience in designing new and historic structures within safety-critical environments.
  • Expertise in seismic design and familiarity with relevant codes (e.g., Eurocode 8, ASCE).
  • Proficiency in industry-standard structural analysis software (e.g., ANSYS, SAP2000, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of regulatory and safety requirements in nuclear engineering.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
