Scope of the Role: 

As part of a multi-functional, highly skilled, and flexible team, the Machine Shop Grinder is a hands-on role, responsible for producing parts to a fulfil Assembly, Aftermarket and Spares requirements. Shift flexibility is vital to fulfil business needs. 

 

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 

be highly involved in contributing to the entire manufacturing process, from engineering design, through machining to delivery.

Producing complex components according to specification requirements. •            Working from and understanding engineering drawings

Working and measuring to very tight tolerances.    

Applying knowledge of materials and machining methods.

Work with minimal supervision and plan workload effectively to achieve targets and KPIs.

Experience working on bespoke parts to stringent geometric tolerances.

Understand, and work at all times, in line with client Values and Directives; specifically following the highest standards of health and safety.

Perform any other reasonable duties as requested.

Foster RFT mindset. 

Technical Competencies Required:

 

Operating CNC cylindrical Studer machines. External/ Internal Grinding.

Proving out on CNC cylindrical Studer machines. External/ Internal Grinding.

Programming (Studer Win), Setting- components, grinding wheels, jigs, fixtures, chucks and working between centres

Working and measuring to very tight tolerances (within 5 Micron range).

Ability to use metrology equipment

Interpretation of engineering drawings,

Manufacturing components to achieve critical geometrical tolerancing and ensuring product conformity

4yr. Time served apprenticeship certification

Flexibility to work to the needs of the business, including working different shift patterns and overtime as and when required.

Able to both recognise and embrace a flexible approach, ensuring that business commitments are fulfilled, and customer expectations are both maintained and surpassed.

A number of years’ experience in operating precision CNC grinding machines.

Ability to work alone or part of a team.

Able to manage own time and meet tight deadlines.
