There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Due to expansion, our Head Office located just a stone throw away from Newcastle Airport is looking to recruit for a new role as Group HR Advisor. This position is a fixed term position for 18 months. This position comes with a car allowance and retention fee which can be discussed at interview. 

The Role

This new role of Group HR Advisor reports to the Group HR Manager and provides comprehensive and professional HR advice and support in line with Company policy and current employment legislation. This includes policy development and review, coaching and supporting managers to encourage more proactive approaches to employee relations and providing robust advice regarding employee relations matters.

The Group HR Team is a centralised department comprising of HR, organisational development, recruitment and rewards and benefits. As Group HR Advisor, you will be the first point of contact for people matters for around 6-7 Divisions.

Principal accountabilities of the role include:

Provide business-focussed HR advice and support to the Group Head Office and Divisions on all HR policies and procedures, employment issues and legislation primarily over the phone and via Microsoft Teams.

Adopt a coaching and mentoring approach to develop managers confidence and competence to manage HR cases and make robust people decisions.

Support and advise managers on full case management from beginning to end on a range of HR matters including disciplinary, grievances, absence management and capability/performance management.

Support with Group wide HR projects and initiatives as required.

Support leaders to understand what drives colleague engagement and develop divisional programmes to enhance this

Analyse and manage HR data and MI ensuring relevant information is communicated to Divisions and managed accordingly

Support the Group HR Manager and Group HR Director to continually look for improvement and drive positive change within the HR team.

Experience, Qualifications and Skills

Experience

Experience of working as a generalist HR Advisor in a busy commercial environment is essential.

Experience of dealing with a wide range of employee relations matters is essential.

Experience of multi-site HR and the ability to deal with HR matters remotely.

Demonstrate a thorough and comprehensive understanding of current and forthcoming HR legislation.

Qualifications and Training

GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C (or equivalent) or above

CIPD qualified or working towards

Skills and Aptitude

Demonstrates a professional and business-focussed approach to HR.

Ability to communicate effectively and build robust working relationships with stakeholders at all levels

Excellent administration and organisation skills

Confident with dealing with HR issues by phone or virtually.

Excellent attention to detail

A self-starter, who is able to demonstrate high levels of initiative and motivation, but also work collaboratively with colleagues.

Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

Demonstrates a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems.

The Role and Working Conditions

Willing to be flexible in respect to day to day duties and hours worked.

Office based role, working Monday to Friday with some ad-hoc travel and overnight stays to the various Divisions across the UK.
