Job Purpose:

This role is crucial to implementing the CFM quality control and assurance procedures set out within the Gas Safety Policy. As the successful candidate, you will conduct routine and non-routine audits to verify compliance with current legislation, industry standards and approved codes of practice within your designated geographical area. Your primary mandate will be to provide a level of assurance to insulate the business, so far as is reasonably practicable, from the risks posed by gas works conducted via self-delivery or third party. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of gas safety and quality. You will be a key contributor to ensuring compliance with gas safety policies and procedures across CFM operations.

Key Accountabilities:

Safety

  • Operate in accordance with CFM Gas Safety Policy, under the guidance of the Gas Quality Assurance Specialist & Head of Gas Safety.
  • Assist the Head of Gas Safety in conducting store incident investigations when required, addressing issues such as uncontrollable leaks or unsafe workmanship on gas infrastructure.
  • Ensure all gas work completed within your geographical area is performed safely and meets the agreed service standards, prioritising safety and quality.
  • Develop and maintain gas line diagrams at sites with your geographical area.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of gas installations under your purview.

People

  • Liaise closely with client representatives and explain any compliance contraventions effectively.
  • Maintain a positive environment in which gas qualified operatives and contractors engage and operate in line with legislation and the CFM Gas Safety Policy.
  • Identify, record, and report any non-conformance or defects.
  • Liaise with the Gas Emergency Service Provider and assist them in their duties where required.

Excellence

  • Provide intrinsic detail of gas infrastructure to establish the creation of internal site supplementary documentation.
  • Develop comprehensive scopes of work for contractors to remediate identified defects across the estate.
  • Review and verify contractor documentation and accreditations prior to gas installation work commencing.
  • Participate in continual professional development.

Service

  • Audit gas engineers and gas work in alignment with CFM Gas Safety Policy within your designated area, providing oversight and assurance.
  • Attend pre-start, progress, and handover meetings for projects involving gas works at sites within your designated area.
  • Consult with manufacturers on defects covered under warranty, coordinating their attendance for necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain the gas defect tracker with details pertinent to your area, providing detailed information on current gas installation defects across a client’s portfolio, including requirements, status, and classification.
  • Provide clear and concise technical advice to CFM colleagues where required.
  • Assist in maintaining the validity of gas assets, updating the CAFM system, and conducting asset tagging exercises as needed.
  • Provide transparent updates on compliance and quality assurance efforts to the Head of Gas Safety and Gas Quality assurance Specialist.

Financial Responsibilities:

Support the HVAC Team where required on the review of operational costs highlighting opportunity on cost savings and cost avoidance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

SVQ/NVQ Level 3 within Heating/Ventilation/Mechanical Equivalent Qualification

ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications COCN, CIGA, CORT, ICPN, CDGA, BMP1, TPCP1/1A as a minimum

ACS Domestic Gas Qualifications CCN1, CENWAT

Level 3 in Auditing Gas Work.

IGEM/GL/8 Incident Investigation (Desirable)

OFTEC (Desirable).

ACS Commercial Catering & Metering (Desirable)

Be registered with IGEM and hold a minimum grade of Engineering Technician. (Desirable).

Fully conversant with all major manufactures systems and equipment.

In depth knowledge of HVAC systems.

Strong PC literacy to include Microsoft word, excel and powerpoint.

Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).

Ability to extract, collate and present data.

Excellent planning, organising, prioritisation and project management skills.

Effective problem-solving and decision-making.

Strong results focus, takes accountability for own performance.
