Job Title: Customs Clerk
Hours of work: Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
We are assisting our Dover based client in their search for a Customs Clerk. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with customs regulations and facilitating the smooth movement of goods through customs checkpoints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit customs documentation in compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with customs officials to ensure timely clearance of shipments.
- Verify accuracy of import and export documentation.
- Classify goods according to tariff coding system.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
- Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to customs clearance.
- Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders to provide updates on shipment status.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience working in customs clearance or freight forwarding is essential (minimum of 2 years experience is required)
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
