Product and Sales Manager – Speciality Chemicals and Wax Technology

Based in Germany or Netherlands

The Core of the Function: 

Responsible for strengthening the market position and staying in position for growth, with the aim for durable and long-term relationships with our customers and suppliers. By working according to the following the strategic choices:

  • Focus on quality raw materials with low interchangeability with our customers and suppliers.
  • Reliability in all what we do and service our customers beyond expectation
  • Proactively promoting (sustainable) product- and market applications with our suppliers

Tasks and Responsibilities:

New Business Development and Sales

  • Develop and Manage Key Account and Key supplier plans
  • Bring technical knowledge: sharing market insights and delivering innovation to the customers and suppliers, translating their needs into technical product solutions
  • Market Research and Analysis: Conduct market research, share trends, regulations, competitor and customer insights.
  • Managing sales targets, quotes and the contract process.
  • Supporting & Stimulating Cross-selling opportunities within the organisation - both personal selling targets & Identifying possibilities to reach overall business target)
  • Pro-actively promote (sustainable) product and market applications to customers
  • Accurate forecasting of demand and development of pricing strategies that are competitive but also profitable for the distributor

Product Portfolio Management:

  • Manage and optimize the range of products. This involves deciding which products to include or remove based on market demand, trends, and profitability with the focus on low interchangeability.
  • Pro-actively work with suppliers to identify new (sustainable) product- and market applications

Supplier and Customer Relationships:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers & customers.
  • Understand customer’s needs and provide them with advice on product applications and solutions
  • Managing supplier/customer relationship (with decision making units DMU’s) along the lines of the offer book per segment and record in CRM
  • Manage debtors, overdue and credit limits.
  • Supplier Management: maintain relationships with suppliers and negotiate terms, prices, and contracts. Ensure reliable suppliers that meet quality standards.
  • Performance Reporting: Monitor the performance of the product portfolio and regularly report on sales, profitability, and market position. Use this data to adjust strategies and plans.
  • Marketing: support Marketing in the development of marketing strategies and campaigns to promote the products.

Product Development:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and customers to develop new products or improve existing ones. This also mean translating customer needs into product requirements.

The Person:

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical or commercial field
  • 5 - 10 years of work experience
  • Chemistry background or a strong affinity with Chemistry (preference for wax technology or CASE sectors)
  • Ability to work together with a variety of external stakeholders at all levels; including customers, specialists, suppliers, product developers, marketeers, to realise the commercial targets.
  • Proven track record in achieving commercial success and driving strong revenue growth.
  • Excellent strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate and then implement market insights into actionable strategies, aligned with the company's overall goals and objective
  • customer-centric focus, ensuring the company delivers exceptional service and exceeds customer expectations.
  • Results oriented mindset with a focus on achieving and surpassing commercial goals and KPIs.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
