Jackson Hogg are proudly supporting a speciaist manufacturing business in the Hexham area with a Compliance Engineer position, reporting directly into the Engineering Manager. 

Compliance Manager Responsibilities 

  • Experienced with necessary legislation and standards incuding CE, CA, PUWER alongside group directives 
  • Support engineering activities for new installations to ensure compliance 
  • Assess existing machinery whilst supporting the relevant management to ensure machinery and equipment on site conforms with respect to their safety design and valid regulations 
  • Propose necessary changes and upgrades required to ensure compliance of existing machinery
  • Ensure that the required documentation and records are obtained, updated and correctly stored.
  • Conduct and support technical Risk and Conformity Assessments with the relevant Production Manager.
  • Establish and implement a plan for completing regular technical safety checks on the existing equipment on site.
  • Ensure conformity of plant machinery (including parts) is applied when equipment is purchased in conjunction with the Project Team and Technical Purchasing Team.
  • Demonstrate professional competence and development by keeping skills up to date and in providing evidence of continuing professional development.
  • Implement and follow up all required actions, working closely with the relevant Production Manager, Engineering Department,  SHE Department and Project Team, and other departments as necessary.

Compliance Engineer Requirements 

  • Minimum HND level education in engineering discipline or significant relevant experience in design, manufacturing, or maintenance.
  • Completed training in Work Equipment and Machinery Safety - PUWER, CE/CA marking and the Machinery Directive.
  • Multi-disciplinary qualifications and experience would be advantageous.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or similar engineering industry.
  • Familiar with dealing with legislation and ACOP relating to machinery safety.
  • Must have experience with risk assessments.
  • Good standard of IT skills and competent use of Microsoft Products (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and SAP software is advantageous but not essential (training will be given).
  • Structured method of working, with good organisational skills.
  • Able to work independently, as well as part of a team, utilising well developed communication skills.
  • Motivated and self-driven to not only ensure compliance is achieved, but also to keep up to date with the relevant regulations and associated training.
