CNC Machinist Setter / Operator  

Location: York, YO61 1ER
Salary: £15 - £16.50ph with scope for progression
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday-Friday 7.30am – 4.30pm with additional hours available

Plowman Brothers Ltd is a family-run business just outside of York in Sutton on the Forest!

We specialize in the manufacture of livestock transportation equipment, water treatment and premium agricultural products. We also undertake bespoke fabrication projects across a wide range of sectors.

Our facility, which is all based on one site, houses modern equipment including, CNC laser and plasma profilers, press brake, lathe and milling equipment. As well as robotic and pulse synergic welders and a large commercial paint booth. We also carry out all our own electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic design, assembly and installation.

CNC Machinist Setter / Operator  – The Role

We are looking for experienced CNC Machinist Setter/ Operator to join our workshop team!

We work with aluminium, plastics, mild, high strength, wear resistant and stainless steels on a daily basis to fabricate components & assemblies for the products and services we offer.

Responsibilities;

•  Machine setup to include tool selection and setup, G Code and offline programming.
•  Use of Twin spindle lathes and 4 Axis Vertical machining Centres, bar fed lathes and drilling bed.    
•  Operating a number of machines within a busy machine shop to produce quality components.
•  Working from detailed engineering drawings.
•  Lathe and milling work on modern CNC machinery.
•  One offs and batch quantities.
•  Machine upkeep and maintenance.

CNC Machinist Setter / Operator  – What we need from you

Experience;

•  CNC Milling and turning experience.
•  Good knowledge efficient machining techniques.
•  Creating, setting and proving out programs
•  Previous experience of honing programs to reduce cycle times and improve part quality.  
•  The ability to interpret engineering drawings
•  Working unsupervised and achieving a high standard of workmanship.
•  Adhering to health and safety practices within the machine shop environment.
•  Machine specific training will be provided.
