Health and Safety Manager

Salary: £65,000 + strong package
Location: Remote (preferred London and Kent but flexiabilty across the UK)

Overview
Our client is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Manager. As the UK's largest supplier of property certificates, thry work with a wide-range of different clients, including landlords, property companies, housing associations, and local governments. With a client base that includes ‘Big 6’ energy firms and blue-chip organisations, their mission is to help make the planet greener, more sustainable, and a better place for everyone through innovative services such as electrical, gas heating, and Net Zero solutions.

This is a key leadership position, ensuring the highest standards of health and safety compliance across the organisation, with a particular focus on London and Kent. The role offers the flexibility of remote working while overseeing multiple projects and teams within these regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive health and safety policies, ensuring compliance with current legislation, regulations, and best practices across all operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments and safety audits, identifying potential hazards and developing strategies to mitigate risks in areas such as electrical, gas heating, and Net Zero services.
  • Ensure that all staff and contractors are fully trained and equipped to adhere to safety protocols, conducting training sessions and toolbox talks as required.
  • Lead incident investigations and develop procedures to prevent future occurrences, ensuring all incidents are reported in compliance with RIDDOR and company policies.
  • Collaborate with senior management and operational teams to integrate health and safety objectives into overall business strategies.
  • Provide guidance and support to project managers on site safety management, especially in high-risk areas, ensuring projects are delivered safely and efficiently.
  • Stay up to date with emerging health and safety trends, regulations, and technologies, particularly related to sustainability and Net Zero initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on safety performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices across the organisation.
  • Manage and review contractor safety procedures, ensuring that third-party workers adhere to the company’s health and safety standards.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at fostering a positive safety culture across the business, encouraging proactive safety management and behavioural safety improvements.

Key Qualifications and Skills

  • NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent qualification.
  • Tech IOSH status (or working towards Chartered Membership of IOSH).
  • Proven experience in a health and safety management role, ideally within property services, facilities management, or similar sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation, with a strong understanding of CDM regulations.
  • Excellent risk management skills with experience in developing and implementing safety management systems.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing health and safety across remote teams and multiple locations.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and Net Zero initiatives is a strong advantage.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel to project sites in London and Kent when required.
