Our client is a leader in their field and after a successful period of consolidation, they are now entering an exciting phase of expansion and actively recruiting for growth across all functions of the business. They are now looking for an experienced Income & Accounts Officer to join them.

Role Overview

  • Responsible for the accounting duties related to income received in the organisation, with a particular focus on rent and service charges, and fundraised income, namely trusts and grants financial administration.
  • To support the team by ensuring all Rent Accounting duties are performed accurately and timely to maximise housing income.
  • To support the Fundraising team to ensure excellent accounting records are kept of donors.
  • To develop effective working relationships with staff in Housing and Fundraising and to provide support.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading the operational income management and rent accounting activities across all income streams, ensuring accounting tasks are performed accurately and timely and all business and financial systems are kept up to date.
  • Raise sales invoices and credit notes, chasing late payments.
  • Ensuring rent payments by tenants are recorded to their accounts.
  • Processing, verifying, and posting receipts for goods sold or services rendered.
  • Create, calculate and organise direct debit payments and chase all failed payment arrangements via the bank and actively keep the administration of this task under control.
  • Work with the Fundraising team to align incoming donations from the fundraising database to the financial accounting system, then reconcile.
  • Ensure that, together with Fundraising, all Gift Aid details and information inputted to the fundraising database is accurate.
  • Ensure all Gift Aid claims comply with HMRC requirements, seeking to maximise potential Gift Aid income.
  • Assist your line manager with the preparation of Value for Money (VfM) metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the senior management team, committees and regulatory reporting.
  • Assist with the preparation of Statutory reports as necessary during the annual audit and respond to any queries that the auditors may have.
  • Assist your line manager with the Annual Budget preparation of the Master budget.

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience of finance administration and a keen eye for detail with numbers, accurate and organised is essential.
  • Experience of manipulating/interrogating accounting ledgers and information systems is essential.
  • Experience of analysing management information and making recommendations to inform decision-making is essential.
  • Experience of having worked in a charity or social housing is essential.
