Job Overview: The role requires a Senior Design Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary team, providing expert technical and design support in building services engineering. The candidate will oversee mechanical or electrical projects, ensuring client specifications are met while maintaining high-quality standards throughout.

Role Requirements:

  • A results-driven individual with strong technical, problem-solving, and coordination abilities.
  • Holds a degree in electrical or mechanical building services engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience across a broad range of technical areas.
  • Member or associate of relevant professional bodies (e.g., CIBSE, IET).
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
  • Thorough understanding of Building Services Engineering and related disciplines.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record in delivering building services designs across various sectors.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, NES, Cymap, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must have a valid UK driving licence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to company growth by identifying new opportunities and maintaining client relationships.
  • Act as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the successful delivery of projects, including providing technical support.
  • Produce budgets and monitor project costs, ensuring they are delivered within the set budget and schedule.
  • Stay updated on technical advancements, standards, and legislation.
  • Compile specifications, drawings, and contracts while ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Provide electrical or mechanical engineering design for buildings and infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor and manage project scope, schedule changes, and budgets.
  • Represent the team in external meetings and ensure project objectives are met.

Role Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
  • Act as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support.
  • Produce budgets for clients based on their specifications and monitor spend to ensure that, as far as possible, projects are delivered within their budget and schedule. Liaise with the Client and external design teams as necessary for the successful delivery of projects.
  • Monitor and address own training and development requirements.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
  • Compile specifications, drawings and relevant Contract documents and maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Provide electrical or mechanical building engineering services design to buildings and infrastructure.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
  • Represents the team/group/profession/discipline at external meetings
  • Responsible for monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets for own areas.
  • In addition, is responsible for one or more of the following:
  • Manages small projects, work area or technical skill set
  • Responsible for predicting and planning future resources, which may include setting up new projects and project plans
  • Responsible for the design/ delivery of events, activities, processes, and /or projects which have a major impact on the management of the business: allocates tasks and coordinates activities
  • Responsible for the performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
