Job Description: Project Manager 
Location: Birmingham
Reports to: Senior Project Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Manager to join our clients Project Management team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of new build substations and the expansion of existing substations. This role requires a deep understanding of substation engineering, project management, and the transmission and distribution sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
    • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure project objectives are met.
    • Oversee the execution of substation projects from inception to completion, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Stakeholder Management:
    • Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project execution and resolve any issues that arise.
    • Prepare and present project status reports to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
    • Monitor project progress and implement necessary adjustments to address issues promptly.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all project deliverables meet quality standards and client specifications.
    • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
  • Budget Management:
    • Monitor project budgets and ensure projects are completed within financial constraints.
    • Approve expenditures and manage cost control processes.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring their professional development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within the transmission and distribution sector, specifically in substation projects.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Leadership and team management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and quality standards in the transmission and distribution sector.
  • Strong knowledge of substation design, construction, and commissioning processes.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale substation projects on time and within budget.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
Working Conditions:
  • Office-based with frequent visits to project sites.
  • Mon - Fri, 8 hours a day
  • May require occasional travel and extended hours to meet project deadlines.

Rate of pay - to be discussed based off experience and competancies
