We are a leader in sustainable energy solutions in Ireland, looking to appoint an experienced Senior Heat Pump Design Engineer to our team.

You will play a key part in designing, developing, and optimising heat pump systems across a range of applications, including residential, commercial, and agricultural projects. This role also offers the exciting opportunity to recruit and manage a team of engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Team Building: Recruit, develop, and manage a team of engineers to support the company’s growing heat pump design and installation needs.
  • Design and Development: Design heat pump systems (Air Source, Ground Source, and Water Source) for residential, farm and commercial applications, ensuring optimal efficiency and performance.
  • System Optimization: Analyse system requirements and optimize heat pump performance for various applications, including low-temperature heating for underfloor and high-temperature radiators.
  • Project Engineering: Work closely with project teams to provide technical guidance, ensuring system designs are tailored to meet client needs and Irish regulatory standards.
  • Component Selection: Specify mechanical equipment such as heat pumps type and accessories based on application requirements.
  • Energy Efficiency: Develop energy-efficient solutions that meet or exceed industry standards and environmental regulations.
  • Technical Support: Provide telephone-based technical support to heat pump installers, troubleshooting installation issues, and offering real-time guidance to ensure successful system setup and performance.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams (R&D, production, and sales) to ensure smooth project execution from design through to installation.
  • Other assigned duties.

The Person

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems or energy efficiency.
  • Experience with heat pump design and implementation, including both high and low-temperature systems.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of system optimization techniques for enhancing heat pump performance.
  • Familiarity with control systems and monitoring technologies related to heat pumps.
  • Experience fitting heat pumps advantageous.
  • Practical experience with heat pump systems in both new builds and retrofitting projects.
  • Experience providing technical support or training to installation teams.
  • Understanding of local building codes, regulations, and standards related to HVAC and heat pump systems. Familiar with SEAI grants and application processes.
