The Role

Smurfit Kappa Composites, currently have an exciting opportunity for a Machine Operator.  Reporting to the Shift Supervisors, the successful applicant will work effectively as part of the team to deliver excellent customer service and ensure ‘on time’ deliveries to our valued customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring HSE best practices are followed throughout department.
  • Setting up and operating paper tube winding and/or paper tube labelling machines
  • Enabling the production of quality products off the machines in a timely manner
  • Ensuring machines are operated efficiently in line with SSOWs and best maintenance practices.
  • Driving continuous improvement opportunities, including waste reduction and production efficiencies
  • Performing other tasks within the production department when required and trained to do so such as packing, checking, case erectors, fulfilment etc.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Demonstrated commitment to good health and safety practices.
  • General mechanical knowledge is essential.
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to work towards tight production deadlines without compromising safety, quality, or waste expectations.
  • Excellent communication and team working skills.
  • Ability to identify and act upon process improvement opportunities.
  • Experience of working with similar operating equipment would be an advantage.
  • NVQ level 3 in mechanical engineering or similar discipline would be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and SMED techniques would be an advantage.
