Electronics Test Technician (Engineer)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Electronics Test Technician to join a growing team in Thatcham. This position offers the chance to work within a specialized Enhanced Inspection Department, focusing on the visual inspection and testing of electronic components in a temperature and humidity-controlled environment.

As an Electronics Test Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of electronic components by:

• Conducting visual inspections of electronic devices.
• Testing capacitance and resistance using LCR meters.
• Performing X-ray inspections to assess internal structures.
• Testing solderability of component leads and terminals.
• Using XRF to determine material composition.
• Conducting chemical and thermal decapsulation.
• Performing functional testing at the component level.

As an Electronics Test Technician, you should have a strong understanding of electronics theory, including Ohm’s Law, resistor & diode identification, DC Circuit theory, transducers, integrated circuits, and power and signal waveforms. Experience in CPU and memory testing would be beneficial but is not essential for the role.

Attention to detail is critical, as well as the ability to work in a clean room environment. Good written communication skills are also important for creating test reports. Familiarity with industry standards such as AS6081, AS6171, ISO17025, and IDEA 1010B is advantageous but not required for an Electronics Test Technician role.

To be considered for the Electronics Test Technician position, you should have a BTEC, ONC, HNC, C&G, Apprenticeship, or equivalent in Electronics Engineering.
