The role - SEN Teacher - Barking and Dagenham

  • Plans and teaches lessons to small groups and individual students, as well as working with small groups of students
  • Writing reports and taking attendance, preparing teaching materials, and taking registers
  • Encourage students to learn and to develop confidence by helping them develop independence and self-confidence
  • Managing behaviour, marking work, and keeping parents and carers informed about the progress their children are making
  • Assist specialist teaching services, medical personnel, counsellors, and psychologists with the provision of education
  • Organise educational trips, attend workshops and provide training to other teaching staff on special educational needs issues on a regular basis

As a co-educational special school specialising in autism and complex needs, this school setting aims to fulfill the needs of children aged between 2 and 19 as well as those with social communication, cognitive, sensory, emotional, and behavioural difficulties. It is located in New Addington, and the new purpose designed school is equipped with all the features necessary to meet the needs of students with autism and students with complex needs. Through effective collaborations with partners, especially in the areas of health, education, and family support practitioners, our school enhances not only the experience of parents and caregivers, but also the progress of children and young people.
