Our award-winning client are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager to join their team in East Ayrshire. The successful candidate will have a strong background in new build housing and residential design. This role involves leading and managing the design process from conception through to completion, ensuring that all projects meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics.

Our client is happy to look at a hybrid role for this position (3 days office/2 days home)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading the design process on residential projects from feasibility to occupation, including:
    • Preparing concept designs for tenders
    • Preparing planning applications, gaining approvals and discharging conditions
    • Preparing building warrant applications and gaining approvals
    • Preparing and submitting roads construction consents, Scottish water approvals and other statutory approvals.
    • Preparing and issuing construction information
    • Completing “as built” drawing packages
    • Obtaining habitation certificates
  • Collaborating with other members of the pre-construction team to ensure all projects adhere to the company’s modular design and build strategy and standard specification.
  • Collaborating with the production and site teams to value engineer designs and maximise efficiencies in the modular build process.
  • Providing the purchasing team with design information, reviewing and signing off orders for designed components.
  • Liaising with the commercial team to ensure alignment between designs and cost plans.
  • Planning project timescales and assessing project risks.
  • Attending relevant client meetings and site visits
  • Liaising with clients to provide design input and innovative solutions.
  • Diligent filing of design information and issuing of drawing registers.
  • Promoting the use of company standard house types wherever practicable
  • Keeping up to date with the latest building standards and innovations in net zero design.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Masters of Architecture, or other architectural qualification plus equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ experience of new build residential and timber kit design
  • Previous project experience of Housing for Varying Needs.
  • Experience of leading applications for statutory approvals
