This position is pivotal in providing fundamental administrative support by developing, implementing, and maintaining the Environmental culture at Felinfach. The role is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment for all employees while minimising operational risk.

Job Description/ The role: Environmental Officer
We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to become our clients Energy and Environment Officer.
In the first instance the successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations, and promoting energy efficiency across the site, while gaining the competence, skills & training to lead this area in the future.
  
Environmental Compliance:
Work with site management team to minimise any deviations away from relevant UK environmental legislation and regulations.
Take the role of ‘authorised person’ in respect of all relevant environmental and energy-related legislation and activities at the site, while ensuring site management are aware of their responsibility for the maintenance and compliance to the site EPR permits & their associated emissions limits.
Maintain an effective environmental management system across the site that complies fully with legislation and ISO 14001 and act as site representative & lead audit guide for all external EMS audits.
Chair and manage the site energy and environment meetings, ensuring that all action points raised are closed out in a timely manner.
Ensure that Environmental considerations are included within the site Internal audit schedule and ensure that any nonconformities are closed out in a timely manner.
Ensure Environmental considerations are included in site inspections, risk assessments, and Work Instructions. Ensuring that any actions from audits, inspections, risk assessments are implemented by the required departments as necessary.
Along with the Engineering department (or others as required) oversee routine environment-related service contracts across all areas of site, which meet statutory or safe-working requirements, and ensure suitable records are always maintained and available.
Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos, hazardous waste. Arrange and report on safe and legal waste disposal streams from the site.
Take an active role in site initiatives to reduce site water consumption and improve treatment efficiency of WWTP.
  
Energy Management:
Work with site Operational Performance Analyst (and others) to ensure correct information is gathered and used to monitor against UKETS/CCA/CHPQA/FITS scheme requirements.
Identify areas for improvement through monitoring & analysis of energy usage data to reduce consumption and improve cost efficiencies.
Ensure that Energy considerations are included within the site Internal audit schedule and ensure that any nonconformities are closed out in a timely manner.
Ensure Energy considerations are included in site inspections, risk assessments, and Work Instructions.
Ensure that any actions from audits, inspections, risk assessments are implemented by the required departments as necessary.

Collaborate with the Factory Management, VREL Management, Project Management, Process Technical and Engineering teams to develop and implement energy management strategies.
Work with WWTP Manager, as required to identify improvement opportunities
Maintain an effective energy management system across the site that complies fully with ISO 50000 and act as site representative & lead audit guide for all external EnMS audits.
  
General Duties:
Prepare and present aligned detailed reports on energy usage, environmental performance, and sustainability metrics, feeding into both operational & management review meetings as appropriate.
In collaboration with VWNL Group & Central functions develop and deliver training programs for employees on energy conservation, environmental compliance, and sustainability practices.
Foster a culture of environmental stewardship and continuous improvement
Promote waste reduction, recycling, and reuse initiatives.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive environmental & energy site goals.
Be the sites point of contact with all Regulatory bodies, Government agencies, Local Authorities, Community Groups and other stakeholders, regarding environmental and energy matters.
Prepare and deliver presentations on the site’s energy and environmental performance as required
  
What we need from you:
Minimum IEMA Foundation Certificate in Environmental Management or similar.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach and engage stakeholders at all levels.
Minimum of 3 years’ experience within a manufacturing or heavy industrial setting, preferable
Willingness to learn, develop and undertake further training in environment and energy subjects and ultimately to gain a bachelor’s degree or similar, in a relevant topic.
Willingness to gain and maintain professional accreditations with relevant sector bodies such as Institute of Environment Management and Assessment (IEMA) & Energy Institute (EI)
