Special Educational Needs Teaching Support Assistant in SEN School

Position Overview: We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse needs, fostering their social, emotional, and academic development. You will work closely with teachers and other staff to create a positive and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s specific needs and abilities.
• Provide direct support to students with PMLD, MLD, ASC, ADHD, and challenging behavior, both in and out of the classroom.
• Foster a supportive and safe learning environment, promoting positive behavior and emotional well-being.
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt lesson plans and activities to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Support students in developing essential life skills, communication, and social interactions.
• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals as necessary.
• Engage with parents/carers to provide updates on student progress and to work collaboratively on strategies for support.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the school’s educational practices.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience working with children with SEN, particularly those with PMLD, MLD, ASC, ADHD, and challenging behavior.
• A relevant qualification in Special Education, Child Development, or a related field is desirable.
• Strong understanding of the specific needs of students with PMLD, MLD, ASC, and ADHD.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families.
• Patience, empathy, and resilience in dealing with challenging behavior.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and a passion for supporting children with diverse needs.
