Overview

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Trial Instrumentation Engineer to provide onsite support to develop detailed instrumentation plans and fitments.

Please note that this role is for Contract or Permanent.






Responsibilities

  • Generation of setup and user guide procedures for:
    • Rugged PC/Laptop configuration in accordance with RBSL IT Security Policy.
    • Instrumentation Wi-Fi access points & associated equipment (details to be provided).
    • IP based camera system integration with Dewesoft.
    • Screen grabber hardware.
    • Dewesoft Serial Comm plugin.
  • Generation of instrumentation installation and commissioning procedures, including for:
    • Accelerometers
    • Strain Gauges (singles and rosettes) on to steel and aluminium.
    • Dewesoft Serial Comm plugin development to communicate with CR3 AXCON.
  • Support the wider instrumentation team with fitment of instrumentation and test equipment to vehicles:
    • Installation and commissioning of specialist instrumentation i.e. strain gauges.
    • Build and repair of harnesses to support integration into the wider architecture.
    • Installation and commissioning of core instrumentation fit into pre-series test vehicles.
    • Work with the wider instrumentation team to run and trouble-shoot instrumentation systems.
    • Generation of Instrumentation plans to support the GCE trials across Block 1 & 2.





Qualifications

  • Entry Level - experience based





Essential skills

  • Dewesoft data acquisition system:
    • Creation of setup files.
    • Post processing of data generated into useable displays.
  • Instrumentation related IT systems:
    • Point to point Wi-Fi configuration.
    • Experience utilising SuRun administrative access on standalone PCs.
    • Experience in configuration of new rugged PCs/Laptops (details to be provide).
  • An extensive understanding of the CR3 design and system functionality.
  • A knowledge of systems engineering based on DOORS software, with regards to instrumentation down selection in order meet SRs.
  • Experience authoring technical documentation for internal & external release.





Desired skills

  • Experience working in high hazard industries
  • MoD standards / Def Standards
  • Systems Engineering Experience with requirements management.
  • Experience with Systems Engineering tools such as Enterprise Architect and DOORS is desirable.
  • Compilation of Arguments and Evidence using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) is desirable.





Experience

  • Experience of working in defence on instrumentation/trials projects.
  • Experience of working on AFV projects.
  • Understanding of systems requirements and the process of undertaking system evaluations to validate them.
  • Experience on operating on UK MOD estates.





What do I need before I apply

  • Can start on BPSS, however SC Clearance may be required. Sole UK Nationality.
