The Role

To lead the Manufacturing Technology team, supporting both client-facing and internal R&D projects. This role is focused on ensuring efficient project delivery, developing team capabilities, and contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the business. This role will provide hands-on support across technical and some managerial functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Along with the Technical Project Leads support the management and execution of client and internal R&D projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Director and Programme Management team to ensure that the Manufacturing Technology team is adequately resourced for all projects.
  • Assist in defining and implementing the Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, and Operational Performance strategy, including technology roadmaps and process improvements.
  • Help in continuously reviewing and optimizing Manufacturing Technology, Engineering, and Operational processes, systems, and tools.
  • Identification, protection, and management of relevant intellectual property for the business.
  • Contribute to the preparation of proposals for new projects, ensuring technical and commercial feasibility.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients and internal teams, to support business development and project execution.
  • Ensure the team operates in compliance with all health and safety regulations and maintain a strong safety culture. 
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with the Manufacturing Technology Director, CEO, General Manager, Programme Director, and other senior leaders.
  • Maintain the professional and positive reputation of the business through effective communication and representation.

The Person:

  • Demonstrated understanding and practical experience in manufacturing technology, lean manufacturing principles, and operational performance (e.g., DFM/DFA, waste reduction, optimisation).
  • Ability to assist in managing and overseeing project delivery, ensuring resources, schedules, and budgets are aligned with business needs. 
  • Assist in identifying talent needs within the Manufacturing Technology team, supporting recruitment efforts and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance. 
  • Support technical problem-solving by identifying and delivering the most effective technical solutions within the project's constraints. 
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical and project-related information clearly to internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Actively support efforts to win new business by contributing to proposals and maintaining relationships with clients.
