The role

Orbit are delighted to announce that we are recruiting for a Projects & Monitoring Team Lead. This critical role sits within the Impact & Performance team, which is responsible for reporting on the impact of our Better Days support provision, which is delivered in partnership with national and local charities e.g. Citizens Advice to make a positive difference to the lives of thousands of customers particularly through the cost-of-living crisis by offering free help with welfare benefits, income maximisation, energy advice, employment, skills and much more.

As well as being responsible for managing and maintaining reporting tools, the role holder will also ensure all Better Days projects are compliant in line with company and statutory requirements, as well as build and manage positive and collaborative relationships across the team and with a host of internal and external stakeholders. In addition to drive, ambition, and passion to bring to life data to demonstrate meaningful impact of our Better Days projects on our customers and communities, it goes without saying that the role holder will also be a natural people leader who invests time into building a team who are as happy as they are high performing, managing four people in total.

The successful candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter with a strong proactive approach, critical thinking, excellent planning, and organisational skills to apply focus and clarity on priorities with high standards of delivery of reporting.

This role is part of Customer & Communities Directorate, where you'll help us to lead the way in keeping our promise to more than 100,000 customers.

What you'll achieve

  • Manage a two Projects & Monitoring Coordinators and two Admin & Communication Officers supporting them to ensure the customer support programmes we run are well monitored and compliant, supporting the delivery of successful internal audits.
  • Manage our monitoring and evaluation framework and ensure the ongoing effectiveness and integrity of this framework to capture, interpret and report the evidence required to demonstrate the impact of our Better Days projects.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of our systems and processes to develop our capacity to capture, report and analyse evaluation data. To lead the development of our impact stories, integrating all sources of data including quantitative and qualitative analysis to bring to life the difference we make.
  • Ensure the impact of our work is communicated to a range of audiences including for Leadership team and steering group updates as required. This includes quarterly annual and ad hoc impact reports.
  • Support the team under line management and the wider Thriving Communities team to develop understanding of the critical role of evaluation and their role when capturing data and feedback on determining and reporting on their outcomes.

What you'll bring

Essential skills

  • Experience of applying impact frameworks. in roles focused on monitoring and evaluation management with strong analytical skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting.
  • Critical thinking underpinned with excellent report writing skills, including the ability to produce accurate reports and communicate evidence effectively to a range of internal and external audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrable experience in line management experience with the ability to nurture and lead a high performing team.
  • Proven track record of delivering results and continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Excellent relationship management and collaborative skills with a natural ability to develop and effectively manage and maintain strong working and interpersonal relationships across the organisation and externally and at all levels.
