Technical Support Engineer

£40,000 - £50,000 + Circa £10,000 bonus + 5% pension + life insurance + private health care +  smartphone .

Location: Derby Headquarters

My client is a market leading machine tool manufacturer renowned for their state of the art Japanese engineering technology, sliding head lathes, cnc machinery and turnkey solutions. Predominantly they service industries within the medical, electric vehicle and aerospace industries providing sliding head lathe solutions for the manufacture of complex components. They are now recruiting for a skilled Technical Support Engineer to join our team at our Derby headquarters. Reporting to the Service Manager, you will play a vital role in providing support to our service and spares departments. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled service engineer looking to take a step off the tools but retain their industry knowledge.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day technical support to the service and spares departments.
  • Offer customer support via phone and email.
  • Arrange engineer visits to customer sites.
  • Generate internal engineer visit sheets and service contracts.
  • Manage the delivery and collection of repair equipment.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Generate support documentation for the service department.

Requirements:

  • Experience with Fanuc control systems and multi-axis CNC lathes is essential.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge for diagnosing machine and control faults remotely.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and IT skills.
  • Sliding head experience is not essential, as extensive product training will be provided.
