Main Purpose of the Role
Assisting with the preparation, manufacturing and maintenance of kit.
Carrying out goods in and goods out operations, including taking receipt of stock deliveries, sorting them into component parts, and storing items into appropriate stillages and / or pick faces (Goods in), picking and packing stock items ready for dispatch.
Key Responsibilities
- Clock in & Out.
- Attend “Morning Briefings” and Toolbox Talks.
- Taking receipt of stock deliveries making sure all items on the delivery note are received.
- Sorting equipment/ materials into component parts and putting them into the appropriate stillage and/or pick face.
- Reporting any shortfalls or items that are damaged or in need of repair.
- Dismantling, or building kit components when directed ready for dispatch to sites.
- Carrying out general maintenance task such as preparing timber, paneling, cleaning, painting, sanding, painting, or general repairs to kit components.
- Under direction of Woodshop Manager and Supervisors to build and repair bespoke kit.
- Complete pick / job sheets and complete stock checks as requested by Yard Management team.
- Ensure good house-keeping and general cleanliness is maintained in area of work and across wider business, including sweeping the warehouse and ensuring walkways and pick faces are kept clear of debris and obstructions. Clearing the canteen, toilets, smoking areas and yard car parks.
- Carrying out stock counting as requested by the Woodshop Management.
- Support team with loading and unloading kit if required.
- Support with picking and packing deliveries for dispatch if required.
- If required by Woodshop Manager as part of team, support Site Crews with performing essential repairs and in installing and/or removing bespoke kit on project sites.
- Under direction Woodshop and Facilities Management – carry out property repairs or assist with refurbishment of offices as and when required.
- Reporting damages identified.
- Carry out from time to time as directed any other reasonable duties as required in addition to the above that are both reasonable and within your capabilities.

Knowledge Required
- No relatable experience required - all training will be provided
- Demonstrable experience with woodwork or site carpentry is desirable.
- Counterbalance forklift licence is required.

The Woodshop operative may move between different departments depending on the needs of the business so being flexible and adaptable is essential.
For all areas a moderate level of fitness is required to comfortably carry out the job tasks. This role can involve a substantial amount of manual handling including bending, stretching, stooping, stepping, reaching, and lifting. Having a good range of mobility is important to ensure you can work safely within health and safety regulations without placing undue strain on your body.
Generally, the working hours are Monday to Friday between 08:00 and 17:00 each day. However, some departments may start earlier and finish earlier or start and finish later. In peak session the warehouse operates extended hours over 7 days a week. Therefore, flexibility is required.
