About the Role:
As a Structural Examiner, you will play a critical role in inspecting key infrastructure assets, including bridges, culverts, viaducts, and retaining walls. You will lead inspection teams, assess the condition of structures, and provide recommendations for maintenance and repair to ensure their continued safety.

You’ll be responsible for conducting detailed examinations across rail and highway projects, producing high-quality reports, and making sound engineering judgments based on the condition and deterioration of assets. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to shaping future examination practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections of bridges, culverts, viaducts, retaining walls, and other structures.
  • Lead and coordinate inspection teams on various rail and highway projects.
  • Produce detailed reports, drawings, and schedules of defects.
  • Make informed engineering decisions about structure conditions and deterioration, considering environmental and causal factors.
  • Mentor and support junior staff in technical aspects of examinations.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant technical standards and procedures.

What We're Looking For:

  • Qualified STE4 Examiner with experience in structural asset inspections.
  • Strong knowledge of examination techniques and defect identification.
  • Experience working with masonry, metallic, concrete, and timber structures.
  • Familiarity with bridges, retaining walls, culverts, viaducts, and ancillary assets.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, able to translate technical information effectively.
  • Evidence of training and mentoring staff is highly desirable.
