Are you a recruitment manager with a desire to climb the career ladder? Is temporary recruitment your thing, but you're tired of the constant search for new clients? We are looking for a Head of Operations to join our award-winning client, based in Gloucestershire but with events across the UK and Europe. They operate within the retail food and drink service sector, at prestigious events yet retain a family-values outlook to what has grown from a small scale provider to a multi-faceted organisation turning over millions each year.
 
The Head of Operations will:
·Line manage a core team of 4-6 Staffing Managers and Operations Assistants, with team size growing during peak event periods
·Develop and implement a strategy for recruitment and retention of a large casual workforce
·Manage relationships with external providers (agencies) to ensure the most cost effective services are obtained, whilst maintaining compliance standards and legislative requirements
·Monitor performance through reporting and assessing figures against KPIs of both the internal team and external providers, coaching and developing the internal team as required
·Work closely with operational staff to understand each event's requirements, planning and communicating these to the wider departments
·Work closely with event managers to ensure operational delivery remains within budgets and maximises profitability
·Attend events throughout the year to support and monitor the team
·Work closely with the HR department to ensure compliance of staffing practices with all legal requirements, reporting in weekly
·Oversee departmental budgets, taking responsibility for finding cost saving efficiencies and savings
·Authorise weekly payroll submissions - into hundreds of staff during peak season - to ensure accuracy
To be successful in this Head of Operations role, you should have:
·At least 3 years' experience in a fast-paced temporary recruitment, staffing or event management role
·Demonstrable experience of leading and developing a team in a line manager position
·Outstanding planning and organisational skill, with excellent attention to detail
·Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and advantageous if has used Sage Line 50
·A good working knowledge of Employment Law and Working Time Regulations
·Excellent communication skills, comfortable working with colleagues at all levels and building relationships across departments and externally with suppliers and contractors
·An analytical approach, with strategic thinking and planning, demonstrating business acumen and the ability to work to KPIs, managing budgets and taking decisive action when required to ensure success
·A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel to events both in the UK and internationally, staying away from home at times and working long/weekend hours when required
This is a fast-paced, intense role, with a dynamic company. They work extremely hard but they do reward their staff handsomely for this, with a salary in the region of £55,000pa plus benefits including healthcare, life insurance, a company pension scheme and 28 days annual leave, plus bank holidays!
