Media broadcast company based in West London is looking to hire a permanent Media Technology Lead Engineer, with experience gained in the video content supply chain, within the broadcasting/streaming, TV media sector. This role will need strong hands on Python programming experience, AWS Cloud skills in addition to the Broadcast sector/content supply chain experience. As the lead in a small team of 2-3 you will remain hands on but also need excellent soft skills, be a great communicator with internal and external stakeholders, proactive, self-managing, and able to prioritise project work and support issues for the team. This role is key in continuing to replace legacy systems and workflows and move broadcast supply chain technology into the cloud. Re-writing python based workflows to integrate the media technology supply chain is a big part of this.

The UK team manages a media operations environment that supports the content supply chain and creative post-production for EMEA. The Technology and Operations team in London care for our content throughout the value chain using a blend of third party and our own technology, systems, services, and infrastructure. Our in-house technology is managed by the engineers within the Media Technology team.

We are looking for an experienced Media Technology Lead Engineer who can deliver reliable, efficient, cost-effective, scalable, and forward-thinking media technology to the business. In this role you will promote, design and support technology-led transformative change; lead, mentor and motivate the team to achieve project goals; and foster a collaborative and productive work environment. You will collaborate with external vendors to ensure the seamless integration of third-party solutions, negotiate contracts, and manage ongoing relationships to ensure alignment with project goals and company standards.

We are seeking someone who has experience designing and developing technical solutions, who can work to their own initiative, and is hands-on with AWS cloud implementation skills combined with programming in Python, as well as experience with root cause analysis and managing improvement plans.

The Technology and Operations team consists of Media Operations, Broadcast Operations, Post-production, Technology and Projects.

This is a permanent position. This role will be hybrid and you will be based in the West London office 2 days a week. Salary is up to £75k + Bens. You must have the right to work in the UK and be based within easy reach of West London.

Key Responsibilities

Creating and extending applications written in Python
Collaborating in software development processes using Git
Deploying cloud monitoring, log aggregation and alerting tools
Writing functional specifications and design documents
Writing repeatable tests and performing technical testing
Writing technical documentation
Identifying areas for improvement and implementing service improvement plans
Defining cloud resources in code by writing AWS CloudFormation templates
The lead for SDVI Rally and supporting post-production systems
Root Cause analysis
Vendor Management
Team prioritisation of projects (approx. 70%) and support tickets (approx. 30%)

Person Specification

Essential Skills / Knowledge:
Approx 5 years engineering experience within broadcast media environments
Experienced in Python Development - ideally for media content workflows and integration
Strong AWS experience (Certified Cloud Practitioner level) including Cloud Formation Templates or similar
Experience working on content supply chains ideally with SDVI Rally or similar
Remain hands on but have the ability to lead, motivate and mentor team members alongside your own workload
Proven understanding of broadcast IT systems, architecture, and software
Proven knowledge of AWS cloud computing and data-driven workflows
Experience writing technical documentation to the level of detail required within 'as built' and handover documentation
Experience adhering to and transforming an architectural design into an implemented cloud system
Ability to apply AWS cloud security principles and permissions best practises etc
Excellent knowledge of post- production, digital and broadcast workflows
Proven excellent communication skills with open approach to imparting information in an understandable manner to people of all levels
Knowledge of video formats and transcoding
Project management experience

ITIL/PRINCE2/AGILE
AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner - (We can help support AWS certifications if you are at the right level but not yet certified)
AWS Certified Solution Architect (Associate)
SDVI Rally - if not then Similar Supply Chain experience
Adobe Premiere
Signiant file delivery or similar toolsets
Asset Management systems
Data management
NAS storage
LTO archives and library management tools
Good understanding of aspects of IT service management
AQC profiles
