About the Role:

The HR team primarily supports the operations and functional teams within the Engineering business. Over a short period of time, the team has expanded and evolved to best meet the needs of the organisation. Our work is guided by the HR Plan, which allows us to prioritise both business-critical and value-adding assignments. Due to the dynamic nature of the business, day-to-day responsibilities are changeable, requiring the team to remain flexible, adaptable, and resilient.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate with the wider HR team to maintain consistency and alignment across the business.
  • Engage regularly with people managers to ensure they are fully supported by HR.
  • Be visible on live sites, gathering feedback and offering on-the-spot support to teams.
  • Champion continuous improvement in company culture and the overall employee experience.
2. Learning and Development
  • Develop and deliver impactful training sessions for operational managers, covering essential HR topics.
  • Assist with the annual performance review process, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Interpret and manage training and development requests from the annual PDR process.
  • Support career development mapping, identifying opportunities for employee growth.
  • Utilise diverse learning facilitation methods to enhance training effectiveness.
3. Employee Relations
  • Advise managers on HR best practices, drawing on relevant case law and experience.
  • Participate in employee relations (ER) meetings, helping to mitigate risks and support managers.
  • Keep up to date with employment legislation and share key insights with HR teams and managers.
  • Identify underperformance, coach managers, and support the performance management process.
  • Engage with HRBPs and legal teams on complex employee relations cases.
4. People Analytics
  • Collate, interpret, and present people data for monthly reports to senior management teams (SMTs).
  • Support resource planning meetings and manage administrative tasks effectively.
  • Conduct exit interviews, identifying trends and escalating issues to HRBPs where needed.
  • Utilise people data to contribute to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I) initiatives.
5. Projects and Ad Hoc Duties
  • Lead and support key HR projects aligned with the company’s strategic plan.
  • Assist with apprentice and trainee recruitment, supporting their ongoing development.
  • Participate in recruitment interviews, ensuring alignment with project requirements and business needs.
  • Support HRBPs with high-priority change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions during periods of organisational change.
6. Manage Self
  • Communicate effectively across multiple platforms (MS Teams, Outlook) to maintain transparency and efficiency.
  • Regularly review and prioritise tasks to manage time effectively.
  • Take an active role in self-development by attending seminars, learning sessions, and seeking continual improvement opportunities.
  • Network with HR professionals, particularly in the construction industry, to stay ahead of industry trends.
  • Remain output-driven and adaptable, embracing flexibility in work methods.

Qualifications / Experience:

Essential:
  • Relevant experience in HR roles demonstrating competency for this position.

Desirable:
  • CIPD Level 3 or higher..

Professional Registration(s):
  • CIPD membership to Associate level or higher
