The LED Assembly Technician is responsible for the manufacture and assembly of LED luminaires, ensuring the highest quality standards in alignment with client and company expectations. Key objectives include identifying and improving efficiency's, maintaining quality levels, and supporting the Production Manager to meet scheduled time lines and ensure smooth department operations.

Position Details

Key Accountabilities

  1. LED Assembly
    • Assemble high-quality LED luminaires and components, adhering to IPC soldering standards and following SOPs, Works Order instructions, and drawings.
    • Support the company in achieving monthly production targets as discussed in the Monday 7:30 AM Production meetings.
    • Implement Lean and 5S principles, suggesting improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
    • Maintain clean and organised work areas per 5S responsibilities.
    • Perform testing and quality control during production and final testing stages, signing off on Works Orders.
    • Document all relevant information on SFDC or Works Order documents.
    • Complete Works Orders within the planned time-frames.
    • Take photographs for record-keeping as required.
    • Return unused materials to the Team Leader for restocking or red tagging.
    • Minimise waste of all materials.

KPIs:

    • No reworks or failures from the site.
    • Products completed within allocated Works Order times.
    • Lean and 5S compliance.
    • Accurate logging of time on SFDC.
  1. Engineering Department Support
    • Assist in cutting, drilling, and tapping component parts as needed, under the guidance of the Engineer (BM).
    • Maintain clean and organised work areas in line with 5S responsibilities.
    • Return unused materials to the Team Leader for restocking.

KPIs:

    • No reworks requiring additional materials/costs.
    • Products completed within allocated Works Order times.
    • Lean and 5S compliance.
    • Accurate logging of time on Works Orders.
  1. General Duties
    • Adhere to all company processes and provide suggestions for continuous improvements.
    • Accurately clock in/out and record working times on the company system daily.
    • Attend the 7:30 AM Monday Production meeting.
    • Follow all health and safety guidelines.
    • Keep general factory areas clean and tidy.
    • Clean up after tasks and leave areas/equipment tidy for the next user.
    • Conduct stock checks as required with the team.
    • Perform collections and deliveries using company vehicles as needed.
    • Support activities such as installations, site visits, and surveys as required.
    • Carry out packing as instructed when necessary.
    • Maintain and care for personal tools supplied by the company.
    • Handle company property responsibly.
    • Report faulty or dangerous equipment to the Production Manager.
    • Notify the Team Leader of low stock levels using KANBAN cards.

KPIs:

    • Adherence to company processes and rules.
    • Attention to detail.
    • No injuries or absences due to negligence.

Necessary Attributes and Skills

Skills

Academic/Technical Qualifications

  • IPC training in soldering.
  • GCSE qualifications in Maths and English.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 2-3 years of experience with LED components and drivers.

Computer Skills

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office/ERP (not essential).

Industry Experience

  • Minimum 2-3 years of LED assembly experience.
  • Competent in using hand and power tools for drilling and cutting aluminium profiles.

Leadership/Management Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership by example.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.

Communication Skills

Clear and concise communicator in discussions and meetings
