General Foreman

Our client, a specialist in the HTP sector, is currently seeking a General Foreman / Black Hat Non-Working Supervisor for a contract role in Bridgwater. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising all aspects of work, both on and off-site, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and environmental standards.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervising the core team and sub-contractors allocated to their relevant service
  • Ensuring all works are covered by a safe system of working, including briefings and reviewing/signing off POWRAs
  • Providing sufficient working supervision for people on site
  • Reviewing Working Documentation to ensure relevance and sufficiency for tasks
  • Assisting the Site Agent with management and programming of works, plant, and materials
  • Managing plant delivery sign offs, audits, and utilisation
  • Maintaining health, safety, wellbeing, environment, and quality standards on site
  • Delivering and recording Toolbox Talks, Stand Downs, and Stand Ups
  • Following and recording SHEQ processes and procedures as per CQAP


Job Requirements:

  • In-depth civil construction knowledge
  • Understanding of technical specifications and drawings
  • CSCS Card
  • Site Managers Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
  • Managers and Professionals (CITB) certification
  • ILM Level 3 Certificate (including the nuclear unit) to be completed within 6 months of starting
  • NVQ Level 3 Occupational Work Supervision
  • Effective communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
