The service you will work in….

Highbury Grove Recovery House (HGRH) is a recovery focused and psychologically informed 12 bed residential house where adult residents of Islington and Camden can stay for up to 14 days, if they are experiencing a mental health crisis.  

During their stay residents can expect high quality, non-clinical support from trained Recovery Workers and Re-settlement and Re-integration workers to reduce their crisis and make plans to avoid future crisis, using a range of interventions including 1-1 support, safety plans, wellness & recovery action plans and social prescribing. Re-settlement and Re-integration Workers support the people using the service link in with statutory and other voluntary sector providers and access the local community.

You will support individuals throughout their stay by carrying out support and interventions in line with organizational values and the ethos of recovery and co-production, as well as in line with policies and procedures.

A day in this role looks like….

As a Recovery Worker at Hestia, you will play a crucial role in our service Highbury Grove Recovery House Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:

  • To co-produce the delivery of the HGRH with current and former clients and to support them to engage in local peer led activities, Hestia's overarching Better Lives Forum, and other local user groups, as appropriate .​
  • To take part in effective consultation with individual clients and groups of clients, both about local delivery and development and about organisational policy and procedures​.
  • To maintain accurate records of customer contact, support and interventions provided and any outcomes.​
  • To maintain all other records relating to the upkeep and maintenance of the service, including building health and safety checks. This includes electronic based records.
  • To liaise with other providers of support and / or treatment to the clients, in line with Information Governance Protocols, to provide multi-agency support​.
  • To liaise with the Team Leader and Service Manager to ensure the prompt reporting of any building or furniture defects which require repair​.
  • To take part in promoting and developing the service standards of the organisation. ​
  • To have knowledge of and follow relevant legislation, policies and procedures​.

We are looking for candidates who bring a combination of passion, expertise, and dedication to the table. To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Demonstrable experience of supporting people with mental health and complex needs.​
  • A strong understanding of Recovery approaches and co-production incl. knowledge of issues affecting those individuals.​
  • The ability to create and deliver activities with clients which help them reduce anxieties, develop their confidence and self-esteem and help them to plan for a self-defined recovery journey. ​
  • The ability to keep and transpose all monitoring requirements into workbooks for internal analysis and reporting to funders. ​
  • The motivation to maintain consistently high delivery standards and service user standards, even when faced with unpredictable behavior and potentially challenging situations.​
  • Knowledge of wider legislation to support people in a MH crisis including welfare reform, the Care Act, Housing pathways.  ​
  • Ability to engage clients in assessments and to co-produce, implement, record, review and audit support and safety assessment plans.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office systems, able to use computer systems including case management systems.
  • Understanding of basic buildings safety issues, and what constitutes a repair. 
  • Excellent stakeholder relationships building. ​
  • Excellent level of spoken and written English.
  • Ability to work flexibly, specifically out of hours working during the evening, weekends / bank holidays​.
  • Ability to complete and record accurate financial transactions.​
