Are you keen to gain experience for children who have SEN, especially mental health issues?

We are looking for a dedicated Aspiring Psychologist to support children with moderate learning difficulties and, additional mental health needs. This school is based in Eastbourne for children aged 8-16 and has speciailised in SEMH to provide exceptional education and, provide extra help for traumatised children and, young people.

You will be helping children who have come from trauma/neglected backgrounds, challenging behaviour, ADHD or Autism and, also have developed mental health issues due to their needs and, require additional support with improving social, emotional and mental well-being.

Responsibilities of an Aspiring Psychologist:

• Assist the class teacher in providing the learning experience of students.
• Ability to perform conflict resolution and de-escalation.
• Behaviour and pastoral support.
• Take an active role in forward planning with therapists.
• Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students.
• Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students.
• Ensure safeguarding of students, in line with procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and complete appropriate CPD.

Requirements of an Aspiring Psychologist:

• Impose patience and, understanding.
• Have an understanding with challenging behaviour.
• Always be adaptable in any give situation.
• To be able to develop trusting and positive relationships with students.
• A psychology degree is desirable but, not necessary.
