O&M Technician – Power Generation

MC Technical Recruitment are currently recruiting for an Operations and Maintenance Technician to join the O&M Team of a new 275MW Open Cycle Gas Turbine (OCGT) power station in Rochfortbridge, Ireland. The O&M Technician will be responsible for breakdown and first line maintenance as well as central control room duties to ensure effective operation during periods of high demand.

As a Production Technician you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the remote operations centre during plant start ups and shutdowns
• Conduct operational routines and routine plant testing activities
• Carrying out operational supervision of the asset from the central control room including alarms, environmental limits etc
• Performing mechanical / electrical
• Undertake specific projects and work activities to develop skills and knowledge of the plant
• Conducting all activities with the highest regard for health and safety

This is a days based role working on average 37.5hrs per week

To be considered for this role you should have:

• Operations and/or maintenance experience gained in a heavy process environment that involves the generation of high-pressure steam e.g. power generation, chemical, refinery, CHP etc. Merchant and Royal Navy Engineers with significant watchkeeping experience will be considered – Lead Engineering Technician level or above
• A relevant engineering qualification such as ONC/NVQ Level 3 as a minimum or a time served apprenticeship
• The ability to support other engineering disciplines (mech, elec or C&I) with work planning and plant diagnostics
• Strong IT / computer skills
