I am supporting a company in the defence sector that is on a mission to develop state-of-the-art laser detection and protection equipment. They are committed to safeguarding users from hostile laser threats by offering advanced protection from both visible and invisible laser hazards.
You will be joining a team of 15, with expansive growth plans in place, which has presented the opportunity for a Senior Electronics Engineer to join their forward thinking Electronics team, reporting in to the Head Of Hardware.

This is a very flexible role with lots of hybrid working options available.

The Role

This role requires someone with strong technical skills, experience, and a passion for innovation. As a key member of our multidisciplinary development team, you will help shape the future of their products and company. As an Electronics Engineer , the successful candidate will have a well-rounded skill-set along with strong technical knowledge and a positive approach to problem solving.

Responsibilities

* Translate ideas, requirements, and engineering specifications into solid engineering solutions.
* Provide accurate time and cost estimates and adhere to project plans.
* Develop electronic sub-system solutions as part of an overall system that may include optics, mechanics, and software.
* Develop test strategies and document findings for both electronic aspects and entire systems/products.
* Support manufacturing and other departments during development and production phases.
* Manage all aspects of the product lifecycle from conception to end-of-life, including manufacturing support.
* Liaise with suppliers such as layout specialists and CMOs.
* Perform additional tasks as identified by the Head of Hardware.

Qualifications

* Degree level or equivalent in Electronic Engineering.
* Demonstrable practical design and construction experience.

Skills and Experience

* Competent in both analogue and digital electronics engineering.
* Experience in photonics systems development is highly desirable but not essential.
* Proficient in ECAD tools for schematic capture and PCB layout.
* Skilled in circuit simulation and prototype building using through-hole or SMD technology.
* Proficient in MS Office tools such as Word and Excel.
* Ability to program microcontrollers and experience with assembler, C, or similar languages.
* Knowledge of programmable logic is desirable but not essential.
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 and the company QMS is desirable.
* Ability to produce high-quality engineering documentation.
* Experience in the defence/aerospace sector is desirable but not essential.
