About the role
The role we are looking for is a Building Safety Manager that has a good understanding of building safety and fire safety. However, it is equally important that the right candidate has the right behaviours and values for the role, holding the safety of our residents at the heart of everything they do.
The role will involve being the responsible person for the organisation in relation to building safety and fire safety, in line with the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety (England) Regulations. You will be responsible for a portfolio of high and medium rise buildings across the THCH stock, which includes providing assurance of the safety of these buildings.
Regular duties will include, completing site inspections of the buildings within your portfolio, constructing and reviewing building safety cases for the high-rise buildings and working closely with the Compliance Team, ensuring quality is upheld.
You will work closely with relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to, the London Fire Brigade, external fire consultants and contractors, Tower Hamlets Council and internal teams within THCH.
You will lead on the construction and review of the building safety engagement strategies for our high-rise buildings in line with the requirements of the Building Safety Act.
About you
As outlined in the role above, we will need someone who has a strong understanding and experience of both building safety and fire safety, however it’s equally important that the individual has the right values and behaviours for the role. The right values and behaviours include integrity, curiosity, empathy and dedication.
As the eyes and ears of the building, we’ll look to you to ‘champion’ resident concerns and pro-actively engage residents in the safe management of their building.
The ideal candidate will have experience of managing the overall safety of buildings in relation to building safety, fire safety or overall facilities management. They would ideally have a good understanding of the 5 other areas of compliance, including gas, electrical, lifts, water and asbestos.
The ideal candidate will have a recognised qualification in surveying, fire safety, compliance or have extensive experience that demonstrates their level of competence. Registration to a relevant professional membership such as CIOB, IFE or RICS would also be beneficial however not required.
