Purpose of the Role:

Day to Day management of national transport operations covering outbound tasks, functions & operations to achieve our business goals and objectives on a continuous basis. Continuously seeking and implementing ways to improve. Teamwork and close collaboration across other department and logistics teams.

 

 

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

 

    To assist and support the day-to-day essentials for the transport team relating to the national desk operations.

    Organising driver and vehicle routes with focus on completing daily schedules and driver records.

    Ensuring that vehicle maintenance is carried out as scheduled and records are kept in line with company guidelines keeping to statutory requirements.

    Ensuring that all drivers, trucks and trailers are well presented and that drivers' skills in relation to performance and customer care reflect the correct image of the company.

    Recording driver's hours, haulier costs and extra costs incurred by the business each day.

    Recording all customers DOT and completion of the end of shift in a timely manner.

    Create matrix's to monitor and control all hauliers / SLA's / Compliance.

    Assist in adhoc projects if and when required.

    Flexibility is required to work shift work and to work outside of normal hours to suit the requirements of the Business.

    Provide holiday cover on national desk including on call after hours to deal with any issue which may arise.

    Work 4 days over 7 to support outbound department and provide holiday cover for the team.

    Support to achieve efficiency targets for the logistics function.

    Demonstrate excellent communication with the logistics team and act as the interface between the transport function and other functions as necessary to ensure a seamless provision of service.

    Creating, driving and meeting logistics plans as needed to react to sales and forecasts.

    Drive a continuous improvement mentality - release value, improve service, reduce waste.

    Ensuring that current standards of health and safety are met and exceeded.

    Ensuring compliance is met and recorded sufficiently.

    To work in partnership with customers (both internal and external) to ensure an optimal service level at all times.

    Complete weekly figures and KPI as required by the business

 

 

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):


   Delivery on time - inbound & outbound.

    Compliance and training Completion.

    Route planning within transport budget to achieve weekly KPI.

    Route forecasting and planning - Actual versus Plan.

    Invoice Query & Close out.

Key Skills & Knowledge

 

Essential:

 

    Full clean B license is necessary

    At least 2 years' experience within the Transport/Logistics industry

    Experience in European and national work

    Experience with inbound and outbound logistics

    Experience in preparing and managing budgets/KPI's

    Good IT skills - competent in the use of Microsoft Office Applications

    Good communication skills

    Good planning and organizing skills

    Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative

    Ability to work and act under pressure

 

 

Desirable:


   Qualification in Logistics Management would be an advantage

    Possession of CPC would be desirable although not essential.

 

 

Education & Qualifications:


  • Experience of transport supervision and traffic planning
