The Head of Digital R&D in AI Engineering will be responsible for developing and leading a comprehensive strategy that integrates AI, computational engineering, and data science to enhance Forseven’s engineering design, simulation, analysis, and manufacturing processes. This role will also emphasize the integration of generative AI into design workflows and the application of AI in customer-facing digital products and features. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in AI, computational engineering, and automotive technologies, along with proven leadership experience in R&D within the automotive and EV sectors. Furthermore, this role involves establishing and nurturing global collaborations with research institutes and universities to build a robust research network

Requirements

• Develop and lead the strategic direction for AI, computational engineering, and data science to drive innovation in engineering design, analysis, and manufacturing processes.
• Integrate generative AI into vehicle design workflows to enhance creativity, efficiency, and reduce time-to-market for new products.
• Oversee the application of AI technologies in engineering analysis, including computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), to improve precision and shorten development cycles.
• Lead the development of AI agents and chat-based assistants powered by large language models (LLMs) to support engineering teams across the organization.
• Drive the development of AI-powered features for customer facing digital products, with an emphasis on personalization, predictive analytics, and intelligent systems.
• Build, mentor, and manage a team of AI researchers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Establish and maintain strong partnerships with research institutes and universities across the UK and Middle East to build a research network that aligns with the company’s innovation goals.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, design, manufacturing, and product teams to ensure seamless integration of AI technologies across all aspects of vehicle development and the customer experience.
• Oversee AI-related R&D projects from concept through implementation, ensuring alignment with company objectives and timely delivery

• Stay at the forefront of AI and automotive research trends, actively seeking opportunities to apply emerging technologies within the company.

• Master’s degree, preferably a Ph.D, in Computational Sciences, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in AI, computational engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, ideally within the EV automotive or high-tech industries.
• Proven experience in production software development and deployment for engineering teams, including data pipelines, databases, workflow automation, services, and user-facing applications in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS.
• Extensive knowledge of AI/ML algorithms, generative AI, CAE, CAM, computational engineering, and data science. Proven experience in integrating these technologies within engineering and manufacturing environments is essential.
• Experience working in the automotive or electric vehicle industry.
• Strong track record in building and sustaining research collaborations with academic and industry partners.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to contribute towards the broader vision of the IT and business objectives.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams.
• Capability to develop and implement a strategic vision for AI and computational engineering in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
