This is a high-profile role, which will require a sound knowledge of all the Company’s services, as well as the drive, commercial skills and technical credibility to build significant customer relationships and partnerships, in all Industries around new energy transportation testing and advisory services, to achieve business targets.  This is hybrid role requiring engagement with lab based testing & office facilities, home working with visits to clients.  It may also involve occasional foreign travel.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Achieve personal sales targets related to new energy testing offerings across multiple services.
  • Developing and implementing strategic plans to increase market share and revenue in all transport markets and lead by example in support of the cultural environment the organisation wants.
  • Working closely with all Business Line Managers to identify and win new customers and convert them into key accounts.  Prospect for potential new clients and convert opportunities into increased business.
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on markets and trends.
  • Lead understanding and participation in legislative and regulatory market requirements. Leadership role in developing testing and advisory services appropriate to selected target markets.
  • Encourage and promote new services that are adjacent to the Automotive offering, e.g. charging infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities for campaigns and services that will lead to an increase in customers, orders, and sales including developing pricing strategies.
  • Conducting market research to stay up-to-date with industry trends and competitor activity enabling development of the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
  • Plan approaches and pitches to address client’s needs, concerns, and objectives. Set up meetings between client decision makers and the company’s commercial and specialist staff as appropriate.
  • Research and identify potential clients, and the decision makers within the client organization to grow, maintain and leverage your network and build relationships and partnerships with new clients.
  • Collaborating closely with the sales team to create effective sales strategies and proposals.
  • Support other sales team members with their technical understanding of new energy requirements within the transportation market. Support colleagues to technically develop them in providing appropriate quotations to customer.
  • Building and maintaining a strong network within the industry.

Person Specification/Key Competencies:

  • Tenacious, professional business developer with a track record of achieving their business targets selling engineering or related services.
  • Relationship builder with sound commercial skills and experience of closing deals at all levels across different industries.
  • A team player with ambition to share knowledge and upskill others.
  • Technically credible and able to assimilate and respond to clients’ compliance challenges.
  • Engineering background and / or qualifications.
  • First-hand experience of compliance testing, certification or assessments.
