Job Role

The MEP Quantity Surveyor will report to the MEP Area commercial Lead for area.

The role of the Quantity Surveyor is responsible for providing accurate and value generating input to projects. The role requires that all commercial aspects are carried out in accordance with the contract, company policies and procedures. This role may see you work independently or under the direction of a more senior Quantity Surveyor. The QS must be able to demonstrate the ability to function as a member of an integrated team.

Flexible working: We see this role as a 4 and 1, so 4 days in the office and 1 day at home

Main Responsibilities

  • Main Contract management and administration (NEC)
  • Supply chain management, (including supply chain contract administration)
  • Cost capture and control. including completion of the CLR
  • Commercial Reporting up and down stream
  • Change Control
  • Measurement and Re-Measurement
  • Project metrics reporting
  • Liaison and or negotiation with the Customer's commercial and/or project team.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Assisting the commercial manager in ensuring the necessary internal and external periodic valuations and reports are prepared and issued in line with project deadlines
  • Assisting the commercial manager with the Implementation of the commercial procedures and reporting to ensure compliance with company and contract requirements
  • Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues.

  • Exposure to drafting contractual correspondence on behalf of the Project Manager and preparation of payment certificates and interim financial reports
  • Experience of contributing to procurement and contract strategies
  • Negotiating and team-working skills and the ability to motivate and lead
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Demonstrable legal, contractual and construction knowledge
  • Confidence and ability to assert influence
  • Hold an RICS/CICES accredited Degree (or equivalent) or enrolled on an accredited part-time post-graduate Degree.
