Clinical Pharmacist - Bath - Up to £45,000 - Private Hospital - Full-Time - £3000 Joining Bonus

This Private Hospital in Bath offers Inpatient, Daycase, and Outpatient services, treating both private and NHS patients. The pharmacy department supports the hospital through ward and dispensary-based services.

The pharmacy team includes a Lead Pharmacist, a Clinical Pharmacist, and a Pharmacy Technician. Together, they manage all aspects of Medicines Management, including prescribing, dispensing, risk management, governance, ordering, and supply. Additionally, they provide training, continuous improvement, clinical auditing, and ensure the highest performance standards.

We are seeking to appoint a Clinical Pharmacist to replace our current junior pharmacist, who is moving on to pursue a different career. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy professional looking to join a dynamic and energetic organization and take on a challenging role in developing our Pharmacy services.

Clinical Pharmacist Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide expertise and services to support the hospital's pharmacy service and medicines management.
• Support the daily running of the dispensary through clinical screening, checking, and operational management.
• Ensure the accuracy, legality, efficacy, and safety of prescribed medication through daily clinical assessments of inpatient drug charts.
• Deputize for the Lead Pharmacist when necessary, representing the hospital's Pharmacy Services in relevant forums and committees.
• Contribute to the development, compliance monitoring, and review of clinical policies, guidelines, care protocols, and SOPs under supervision.
• Actively reduce risk and support any risk and incident reporting frameworks related to medicines, including training, communication, and participation in incident investigations.
• Work with clinicians and supply sources to optimize the availability and effectiveness of medicines both qualitatively and financially.
• Manage the medicines inventory content, ensuring the availability of medicines according to prescribing needs and the introduction of new medicines or uses of existing drugs.
• Ensure compliance with national inspection standards, medicines policies, and legislation, including NICE guidelines, NSF's, NPSA alerts, the Medicines Act, and the Misuse of Drugs Act.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the organization.

Clinical Pharmacist Requirements:
• Pharmacy degree from a recognized university (BPharm or MPharm).
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council, with registration maintained throughout the employment period.
• Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD).
• Ability to deliver plans and work collaboratively and inclusively with others.
• Strong report writing and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of clinical audit projects.
• Excellent patient-facing communication skills.
• Ability to use initiative and work independently.
• Responsible and trustworthy source of knowledge for the ward team.
• Ability to work with senior individuals (both clinicians and non-clinicians) across the business.
