Phoenix Recruitment Services Ltd are currently recruiting for a Transport Administrator Apprentice for our Client based in Diss, Norfolk who are part of a wider and diverse Group of professional, agile and supportive companies, a small freight business presenting a great opportunity very close to the train station. You’ll attend Norwich City College for one day a week, you’ll be taught to Advanced Level 3 (A level) in business administration, you will also receive Level 2 functional skills in maths and in English (if already not achieved prior). You’ll be working in an office environment, alongside the small and experienced Transport team. By the end of the 18-month apprenticeship, you will have completed:

  • Business administrator
  • Advanced Level 3
  • Level 2 functional skills in Maths
  • Level 2 functional skills in English

Duties

Enhancing operational efficiency by collaborating with different teams, with a particular focus on assisting HGV drivers while on the road and addressing issues as they arise.

Utilising IT packages and systems, including Microsoft Office, for tasks such as composing letters, emails, and proposals, and for recording and analysing data. The role also involves using specialised IT systems like load boards and freight exchanges.

Updating and reviewing databases to ensure accurate information recording.

Aiding in the creation of correspondence, report writing, and inputting/reviewing work. Maintaining records and files, handling confidential information in accordance with organisational procedures and data protection regulations. This includes managing vehicle maintenance records and health records for drivers.

Fostering positive relationships within the team and throughout the organisation, emphasising collaborative teamwork.

Evaluating processes and offering suggestions for improvements, sharing best administrative practices across the organisation.

 Effectively managing work priorities and time to meet scheduled commitments and complete tasks, while also managing expectations.

Recording minutes and maintaining action logs as required.

Assisting with project management, including contributing to planning, monitoring, and reporting on projects related to growth and expansion.

Requirements

GCSE or equivalent in English & Maths Grade4/C or above is desired.

 A genuine ambition to forge a career in the transport business administration.

  • Great communication skills
  • Have a professional approach with the ability to work independently as well as within a team.
  • Basic knowledge of IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to demonstrate organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • To be self-motivated, adaptable with interpersonal skills.
