NATURE AND SCOPE

The Digital Team is a new function within the UK's largest electricity district network operator. Our remit is wide ranging, covering all teams and departments within a business which compromises customer satisfaction, regulatory restrictions and KPIs, asset management, field operations, HR, Finance and much more.

We are NOT a traditional Digital team. Most people see us as an internal consulting team or a start-up. We are close knit, supportive, dynamic and work in agile ways. We are big on feedback and motivated to constantly improve and do better. Our mandate is to be a supportive, challenging friend to the business, thinking creatively, to bring new approaches, methods and ways of thinking to some of the industry's biggest problems.

We are encouraged to innovate, with the only prescriptions being that we can 1) Measure the scale of an improvement should the recommended actions be undertaken and 2) Achieve business support for implementing those recommendations. You will help us realise this.

We are accountable in supporting the business in achieving its vision of becoming an 'employer of choice', 'a respected corporate citizen', 'sustainably cost efficient' and 'enabling the Net Zero transition for all'.

Within the utilities sector we are a leader winning a trio of awards at the industry's Utility Week Awards including; the Diversity Award, the Staff Development Award and the Digital Transformation Award.

More specifically the Digital Business Partnering Team acts as the conduit and critical friend representing both Information Systems and the business teams we work with. It's our role to help business leaders and their teams to think strategically about their digital and technology needs, to connect the dots between new, planned and live projects and lead overall visibility of changes being suggested or made to our digital and technology landscape.

As a new team we have the opportunity to shape what Digital Business Partnering means at UKPN, create the tools and ways of working that we need to be successful and drive collaborative working across functions.

Qualifications:

Roles like this, supported and backed at the highest levels of an organisation with substantial scope, do not come up very often, so we're looking for the right fit for the team - intuition and initiative, pride in the quality of work, and an understanding that 'how' you work is just as important as 'what' you're working on.

Key Relational Skills Required:

  • Develop relationships that promote trust and collaboration.

  • Frame discussions strategically and connect dots for business leaders that might not be obvious.

  • Synthesise discussions both in the moment and retrospectively to demonstrate engagement.

  • Place discussions in business context to help build trust, engagement and advocacy.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with people throughout the hierarchy.

Other Skills:

  • MS Office suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

  • Experience with project management tools such as (url removed), Atlassian etc. and advantage but not essential.

Experience:

  • Important skills and attributes are more critical than previous job related experience as this role can be relevant for people from many different career routes.

  • It is important to have experience working with multiple partner groups across projects, including senior business leaders.

  • Experience in the utility or manufacturing sector is advantageous but not essential.

  • 1+ years experience in business partnering, business analysis or strategic consulting is advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or professional equivalent e.g. CIMA

We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, colour, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender, gender identity or expression, or veteran status. We are proud to be an equal opportunity workplace.
