SANZA Teaching Agency is delighted to present a unique and rewarding role for an experienced teaching assistant to join a dynamic 4-form entry primary school located in Harrow. The school has onsite parking and has excellent transport connections for buses and the tube (Jubilee Line).

This position involves supporting a pupil in the early years (reception) with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is pre-verbal.

Position: As a learning support/teaching assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the student's development. Your role will be to facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities, promote social interaction, and support their individual learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to the pupil with Autism (ASD) ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Help implement and follow the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and behaviour management strategies
  • Facilitate the child's communication and language development through alternative communication methods
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to plan and adapt activities to meet the pupil's specific needs
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the pupil, promoting their social integration with peers
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with parents, providing regular feedback on the child's progress

About you:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or similar special educational needs (SEN)
  • Understanding of pre-verbal communication methods and strategies
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and the ability to adapt them to meet individual needs
  • Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and parents
  • Genuine desire to support children with special education needs (SEN)
