Location - Plymouth

6 Months Contract

Rate - £60ph - Umbrella

Role Summary:

The primary purpose of the role is to assist and support the Design Manager in the delivery of project scope, including design packages.

Main Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact at DRDL for all matters relating to the proposed reinforced concrete repairs.
  • Daily close cooperation and main interface with repair contractors, design engineers and Babcock core engineering team (client).
  • Daily close cooperation with the Senior Engineer responsible for the specification of repairs.
  • Overseeing the repairs scheduling in conjunction with all stakeholders.
  • Development and maintenance of a network of contacts to allow efficient governance of the repair process in line with the requirements associated with the Nuclear Safety Class of the structures.
  • Understand key client requirements and specifications relating to structural repairs.
  • Identify and manage risks, particularly those that affect safety, and to ensure that all tasks under your control are performed with the utmost regard for health and safety.
  • To always facilitate effective communication on risk and safety issues.
  • Comply with environmental instructions and to identify potential risks to the environment, or areas where environmental impact can be reduced.
  • Carry out duties with the DRDL's values and behavioural standards in mind.
  • Proactively liaise across all departments and functions to ensure clear communication throughout the organisation.
  • Be an active member of a cross functional team, working as part of a matrix structure within the project environment.
  • Champion the DRDL's brand, being a positive ambassador for the company and values.

Skills and attributes:

  • Management of sub-contractors/consultant
  • Proven experience as a Structural Clerk of Works or a design engineer with proven experience on site representing the designer.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and engineering principles.
  • Ideally, experience in reinforced concrete repairs.
  • Daily site attendance in order to oversee the works.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
