Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a Homelessness Prevention Adviser for a Local Authority Client based in North London.

In this role, you will provide advice and support to individuals facing housing challenges, ensuring they receive tailored solutions and assistance in accessing housing, employment, welfare benefits, and other essential services.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Provide advice on housing options, training, employment, welfare benefits, and debt management to customers threatened with homelessness or living in insecure accommodation.
  • Prevent homelessness through advice, negotiation, mediation, or securing immediate access to alternative accommodation.
  • Manage a caseload, maintaining accurate records, identifying priorities, and meeting performance targets.
  • Deliver advice from drop-in services, attend advice surgeries, outreach sessions, and home visits as necessary.
  • Prepare information materials, court documents, tribunal submissions, and other legal casework.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Experience providing advice to individuals and families facing homelessness.
  • Experience managing a diverse caseload of clients threatened with homelessness, including resolving landlord/tenant disputes, addressing mortgage arrears, and navigating welfare rights.
  • Experience negotiating with landlords, agents, and solicitors to secure housing solutions and prevent homelessness.
  • Experience conducting home visits and participating in outreach sessions to engage with clients at risk of homelessness.

What's on offer

Salary: £20ph+per hour

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension

Hours: Monday - Friday, 36 hours per week
